The number of banks in Denmark is declining.
In 1992 there were 219 financial institutions and in 2015 there were 76.
In the same period, the number of employees in Danish banks has fallen from approximately 51,000 to 37,000. Bank mergers, digitalisation and optimisation have contributed to this development.
